What you will Learn at Chanoa

Yoga is therefore not a religion or sport, but a holistic system of movement for achieving mental health, involving the body. The special thing about yoga is that - unlike many other teachings - it goes beyond the theoretical teaching of wisdom and focuses on the practical experience of the student (yogini) or the student (yogi). Yoga students can experience the teachings on their own bodies and that in turn affects the mind. This is probably one of the reasons why it is so popular these days.

Yoga has changed a lot over the centuries. For a long time it was only performed by men, but then completely without physical exercises (asanas). It was only later that the asana practice, for which yoga is so famous today, was added and the various yoga schools finally opened up to women. Today, the yoga system essentially consists of some behavioral recommendations for ourselves (Niyama) and our environment (Yama), the well-known asana practice, breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation.

Although techniques and beliefs are constantly changing, the goal of yoga has always remained the same, which is to free people from physical and psychological suffering. In other words, changing our attitude to life in such a way that a joyful and intense life becomes possible.

Stress, the body, and the mind "Do Kundalini Yoga"

Stress, the body, and the mind "Do Kundalini Yoga"

Stress makes you sick. When your body has to be on constant alert, it doesn't get a chance to recover. Having a common cold and being the first to get the flu when it prevails are clear signs that something is wrong with the immune system. The stress hormone cortisol ensures that the body becomes active. Blood goes to the skeletal muscles, the heart beats faster, the blood pressure rises, the senses sharpen, and the metabolism changes. When there is danger or tension, this is very useful, because it allows us to fight or flee quickly. But when the body remains in a constant state of alert, it can lead to psychological and physical symptoms such as anxiety and depression, palpitations, muscle pain, and cramps. Kundalini Yoga is the best way for relaxation.

Chanoa Online -E-Learning

Kundalini Yoga with Professional Association SSMHG® is a comprehensive yoga tradition, combining meditation, mantra, physical exercises, and breathing techniques. Kundalini Yoga is a householder path; that is, it has always been practiced by those with families and jobs as opposed to a renunciate's path of celibacy and removal from society, which was the usual path of a yogi. Kundalini Yoga as we practice and teach it is also known as the Yoga of Awareness; its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness. The technology of Kundalini Yoga is a science of the mind and body, to elevate the spirit, which has no boundaries, no discrimination. Therefore it is for everyone.

Kundalini Yoga is an art and science that gives us breathe work, kriyas, meditations, values, and virtues to practice and live by each day. Ayurveda translates to "the science of life," and it provides knowledge, tools, and practices to balance the tridoshas in the mind and body. When we study Kundalini Yoga and Ayurveda together, we embrace ancient, effective approaches to consciously maintain optimal health.

From the wisdom of Ayurveda, we know that balancing the tridoshas is crucial for good health. The tridoshas include Vata (air), Pitta (bile), and Kapha (phlegm). One way to maintain balance is through our diet.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, we have a variety of nourishing foods to choose from. Sun foods grow above the ground. Ground foods grow close to the ground. Earth foods grow beneath the ground. Sun foods give energy. Eat fruit! Ground foods cleanse. Break bread! Earth foods heal. Eat turnips and other root vegetables! Eating these foods helps to balance the air, bile, and phlegm components of the body.

According to Ayurveda, sun foods have sattvic (pure) qualities. Herbs, spices, and earth foods have rajasic (energy) qualities. And foods that are best to be avoided, like meat, fish, eggs, and alcohol, all have tamasic (decaying) qualities.
In Ayurveda, each individual is unique and has their own special combination of doshas in need of balancing. The practice is to find the right food and lifestyle that keeps you in balance. In Kundalini Yoga, we also have practices and specific kriyas that balance the body. When we combine the two, we have an all-encompassing holistic approach to building our bodies into pure temples that can live in service of our highest potential.

There is a beautiful kriya called "Synchronizing the Brain & the Tattvas" that you can find in the yoga manual Transformation: Seeds of Change for the Aquarian Age. This kriya quickly brings the tattvas into a state of balance. Another practice in the same manual is called "Meditation to Command the Five Tattvas" which gives you mental control and allows you to command the five tattvas for effective living.
Practicing yoga and meditation while cultivating heightened awareness of Ayurvedic principles will set you on a path to good health and living in your true excellence.

Cultivating Awareness

Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness. Our goal is to cultivate greater and greater awareness of our own identity and our relationship with our body, others, our environment, and the universe. The practice of Kundalini Yoga opens our consciousness so we are able to receive more information and be more present and alert. Simply doing Kundalini Yoga facilitates greater awareness. Optimal practice includes silent, "doing nothing" (passive) periods between exercises, and after tuning in (active) where we pay attention. We sit and sometimes lie down and bring our attention to what is happening without trying to influence it in any way. For maximum benefit, we cultivate awareness by monitoring our energy, how we feel, the sensations in our body, and subtle changes that are taking place.
